Luas in Dublin
Copyright . Seeing Double
Luas Light Rail system has 2 lines Red and Green. It started operating in 2004 .
The red line travels to Dublin docklands serving Connolly station. The green line travels from St Stephens green to Dundrum
Luas trams travel at 70 km/h per hour in off street locations of Dublin. Ticket machines are available at station stops .
Luas warning signs are clearly visible at junctions so proceed with caution . In Sept 2009 a collision between a tram and bus
took place at O Connell street / Abbey street junction resulting in 21 persons injured . Luas continues to expand and track laying is going on
throughout the city center . Hopefully there will be a rail network serving Dublin airport Currently the only means of transport to the city is
by taxi or bus from the airport.
