Funeral Re-enactment August 2015
Jeremiah O Donovan Rossa. The fenian leader died in New York June 29 th 1915 aged 83.
His repatriation took place in Dublin. The cortege where thousands of people lined the streets wound its way through the city
to Glasnevin cemetery on the northside of Dublin. Padraig Pearse s graveside oration brought silence to the mourners.

The fools The fools they have left us our fenian dead .
And while Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.
This echoed through the cemetery there was total silence and then great applause from the people of Dublin present who gathered
for this great occasion. The president of Ireland Michael d Higgins laid a wreath at the graveside of the fenian leader.
The leader of government Enda Kenny also attended along with other ministers on this historic day in Dublin city.
Some people say that the three volleys of shots that rang out over his grave in 1915 were the first of the 1916 rising there after.
