Dublin turns pink for Giro d' Italia
Stage 1 / 2 Pedal power arrives in Ireland.
The 2014 Giro d' Italia started today in Belfast. Stage one and two were held there.
Stage two was on a tough flat course through Belfast in wet conditions on a 219 km
course. The win was taken in a time of 5 - 13 - 12 by the strong German Marcel Kittel.
Speaking after the race Marcel said it was tough at times but he was delighted to have
gone to the front on the last corner to take the win on stage two. The field now prepare
for stage 3 from Armagh to Dublin.

Stage 3 Armagh to Dublin 187 km passing through Dundalk and along the beautiful
coast to finish in Dublin s city centre to a large crowd of spectators
The race was again on a wet slippery surface where some minor incidents occurred
The win was eventually taken once again by the German hero who pulled away to sprint
home in a time of 4 - 28 - 43. The pack now have a rest day before heading back to Italy
for stage 4.
